# On behalf of the ESSDC BSDC 2012 Org.com, I would love to announce the Chief Adjudicator of this tournament, none other than Sinha Ibna Humayun and the Deputy Chief Adjudicators are Anam Hossain and Arghya Dev.

I have received few concerns regarding the registration fee for the Championship. We, the school authority and the organizing committee of the Championship, have decided that in order to pull an event like this, we need to have the registration fee a bit higher than usual. After a long debate, we came to the conclusion that the registration fee will be 7000 BDT/institution, however, we are aware of the costly accommodation in Dhaka city and that is why the tournament committee has decided to not take any participation fee from schools outside Dhaka!
This excludes the number of observers accompanying any institution and includes one teacher from each institution.
We will be letting you know the final date of registering, well after the pre-registration period. So, I hope all the institution representatives will get time to talk to their school authorities beforehand as 7000BDT was never charged in any school debate tournament before.

Within the past few months we have seen curiosity moving all over regarding BSDC 2012. We agree on the fact that we have either, been late to respond or did not respond at all. That is fault on our part, but we did not respond because we have been taking vital decisions regarding the championship which is why I write to all of you today. I write to clarify details regarding the tournament.
Those who have already organized debating events know how huge of a responsibility it is and the problems organizers face know no boundaries. Similarly, in our case, we came upon problems which took us a lot of time to solve. Nevertheless, here are the updates, and also, the answers to the queries all of you had.
1. Dates of the tournament:
Earlier we posted on our facebook event page that we have shifted the tournament from March to June/July [after exams]. That stays. We sat with our authorities again regarding the final date. Points that we took into consideration were:
a) Suitable dates for the debaters to participate
b) Dates which does not clash with other debating events
c) Dates which fall well before the start of Ramadan.
Our School Authority was strict on their stance of not hosting the tournament anytime before the month of Ramadan. The reason behind this was, the school will be closed through the whole month of Ramadan, therefore the students have to study more than the usual and hosting a tournament means the concentration goes elsewhere, and we all agreed that the reason is feasible. Even if we agreed on hosting the tournament before Ramadan, what we found out that the Edexcel exams end on the 26th of June, and the the JDC Debate Festival starts immediately. The month of Ramadan will start from early June, thus we have no scope either. Therefore, all of us agreed that we will host the tournament after the month of Ramadan, which is, roughly, after July. The final date will be released as soon as the pre-registration period ends. In deciding the final date, we have kept an option open in our pre-registration as to when do YOU want the tournament to be hosted. Please feel free to drop in your opinion.
2. Pre-Tournament Rankings:
In preparing the rankings, we have used all the tabulations of the tournaments in 2011 which had electronic tabs with it. We have tabulated all of them together and prepared a ranking. The details of the ranking are explained on this link, by Simon Quinn. The responsibility of the ranking is taken by Mr. Saad Bin Amjad and me, as Convenor of BSDC 2012. Therefore, if any mistake is found, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can work to fix it.
3. Tournament grid and Match ups:
We are grateful to the man who needs no introduction whatsoever, Mr. Simon Quinn, who helped us all throughout the tournament procedures as of yet. Based on his guidelines regarding the rankings, Mr. Simon Quinn also agreed that he would be preparing the grid upon which the pre tournament match-ups will be decided. 4. Pre-registration:
Please find the link to our tournaments’ website on our facebook page. If you are reading this from the website, then please find the tab “Pre-Tournament ranking and Registration’. Once you enter, please click on the “google docsheet link” to proceed to the pre-registration form. The Pre-Registration will be open till 4 weeks, after the period has started. Please note, that only the Institution representative can fill the Pre-Rego form. We will be communicating with the one who fills the form at all times.
We, at ESSDC, hope to deliver a tournament experience of no other. We hope to bring the vibe of being at WSDC, though we are sure we cannot replicate completely but we hope to make you experience even the smallest of the bit. We believe it is high time that we walk for it. By that, I announce the Pre-Registration of ESSDC Squared: Bangladesh Schools Debating Championship 2012, open.

1. We will be releasing the pre-tournament ranking within the next week, in this page. Just as the ranking is released, the pre-registration for the tournament will begin.
2. We all know how tough it is to organize a debating event and an event such as this one, the difficulties are out of boundaries. Then again, as we promised, we will let you know the final decision within 4 days, and great delight, I let you all know that the school authority and our sponsors have agreed to shift the event to July 2012 or some time after that. The exact dates are yet not decided but we will determine proper dates within a couple of weeks once pre registration ends and we hear you out.
The reasons that were taken under consideration in the meeting with the school authority were:
1. Debaters having exams: All the wall posts have been shown to our school authority and all of us agreed upon the fact that hosting the event this March will kill the participation of a lot of good and quality debaters, which is something that we need to avoid. Therefore, to all those who posted, you are successful! :)
2. We also wanted to incorporate all the other senior debaters who are outside of our country right now. We believe their contribution is huge, as to make the debating fraternity what it is now. Hosting a tournament like this, we wanted to ensure EVERYONE'S participation and therefore, we ended up shifting the dates to July.
I hope, everyone is satisfied with the shifting and we hope to host a tournament like no other!
